DETROIT SALON™ is a high-profile, multi-year contemporary art initiative executed in partnership with Visit Detroit, CultureSource, Wayne State University, TechTown Detroit, and The University of Michigan Arts Initiative to establish Detroit as an emerging global art hub and to attract new visitors and residents to Detroit’s vibrant art scene.

Detroit and Michigan have world class talent, infrastructure and resources and deserve to be celebrated on the world stage. Integrating metro Detroit’s world-class cultural institutions and artists within the highest levels of the global art world, a signature city-wide contemporary art initiative and expo will put Detroit on the global art map. It will increase access, diversity and inclusion in the art market by celebrating Detroit’s brilliant and diverse artists and communities.

Artists for the 2026-2028 DETROIT SALON initiative have not yet been selected, however, DETROIT SALON embraces and welcomes artists’ and community opinions during these early stages. A transparent, equitable open call is in development with community partners and a program Curatorial Committee. We are targeting May 2025 for the release of the open call in advance of the launch exhibitions in October 2025.
