Whatupdoe. Welcome. Come in.
You’ve arrived at the front door of a Detroit home — not just any home, but one where art doesn’t hang quietly in the background. Here, it speaks, challenges, comforts, and connects. You’re invited to step inside, wander through the rooms, and experience how contemporary Detroit art and design come alive in the everyday.
Domestic Dialogues: The Art of Living in Detroit transforms the gallery into a living space — a domestic setting imagined through the eyes of a Detroit-based collector whose home serves as a personal museum, a salon, and a site of constant dialogue with the city’s creative community. Featuring works by Detroit artists across disciplines, it reflects an imagined collector’s relationship with the community, embodying Detroit’s legacy of craftsmanship, reinvention, and soulful expression.
This is a home filled with stories. From paintings and sculptures to handcrafted furniture, ceramics, textiles, and design objects, each piece has been made by a contemporary Detroit artist or designer — and chosen with care. The works don’t just sit on display; they inhabit the space. They are lived with as an intimate part of everyday life.
Detroit has always been a city of making, of grit and grace, resourcefulness and reinvention. The artists represented here reflect the city’s distinctive rhythm and its deep well of innovation. The collector, too, is part of this story: someone who supports not just the work, but the people behind it, building a home that reflects Detroit’s complex, beautiful, creative spirit.
Make yourself comfortable. Look closely. Linger. Imagine yourself in Detroit.
Welcome to the house art built.
